It’s your parents who don’t know. And their parents. That’s who this is for.
Thank you for explaining it to me the last few weeks. Many of you have emailed to confirm that, indeed, there are people out there, A LOT of people, who still think John Travolta is straight. That it would be impossible for him to be un-straight considering he has a beautiful wife and children. So when John and Kelly Preston show up at the premiere of Savages, nuzzling each other for the cameras, suggesting that they do have man and woman sex, it’s for the benefit of your parents.
But is it unfair of us? They’re not the only ones.
Why am I so kind to the beloved gay actor who adores his wife, who is his life partner, while loving his serious boyfriend? In public they front like theirs is a legit hetero situation too. In that case they are honest in private. She knows, they all know, their friends know, an entire community knows, and no one is trying to suppress or change it; they just stop short of the press release.
That’s what’s uncomfortable about Travolta’s predicament. The more they try to push it out of him, the less control he has of who he is. Which is why his boner keeps getting in the way of his massage therapy. It’s been over 25 years of boners and massage therapy. He won’t be able to discredit them all.
I am thinking Hugh Jackman. You?

ReplyDeleteSimply because of the steady boyfriend: On this, both Lainey and Ted agree. Hugh has been in a monogamous relationship outside of his marriage to Deborah Lee.
And everyone seems to know about it, but I'm betting because of his ALWAYS amazing kindness to paps and fans alike, they keep everything hush.
Hugh Jackman first name sprung to mind. Lainey has been really nice about him in the past as well

ReplyDeleteHugh Jackman IS the obvious guess, but his wife has gone out a few times insisting that he is not gay, which conflicts a bit with the last sentence of the blind part.

casting process for a superhero movie. Several actresses were up for the part including one with a demonic reputation, and the other a small town un-American girl who’d quickly become a fan sweetheart. The sweetheart had the edge, and she was on her way to LA to close the deal. At the airport, her phone goes off. It’s her agents. They told her not to get on the plane. Demonic leaked a story to Variety that she’d confirmed the role when she hadn’t. It was a bold move to throw off the other candidates. And it worked. (But both movies sucked and really didn’t do anything for her in the long run.)
Basically:
Superhero movie - that did not do well.
First star - sweet. Was hopping on a plane for her meeting/almost confirmation of the role, when stopped by agents.
Second star - Bitchy. Intentionally leaked to the media false information that she has signed on for the role, thus making all the other actresses up for the role quit.
Was it Blake Lively for the Green Lantern?
I'm pretty sure I've seen something in regards to this situation on Lainey's blog. Do not however remember the actresses involved.
Will have to do research... Or someone with sharper memory could give the details?
@Rita - at the end of the article she said that Jessica Biel and Blake have both tried to do the same thing but unsuccessfully, not sure she would have said that if Blake was the blind - plus it is 2 or more movies green lathern just one (But both movies sucked and really didn’t do anything for her in the long run.)
ReplyDeleteThat's what had me thinking Alba since she was in the fantastic four movies and now Lainey comments about her just doing the mommy thing not acting. Not sure who was rumored for her part though.
Just googled it and looks like Rachel McAdams and Keri Russel were up for the Alba part. Maybe the "unamerican girl" is McAdams sice everyone loved her then ass all-american sweetheart but she is actually Canadian???

Good call on the Superhero movies: there were then 2. And both did not do well for the Demonic's career.
... I keep going back the that Jen Garner/Ben Affleck debacle... What was it called again? Which led for her to star in the sequel, Electra or something.
Also, there is Rooney Mara. Remember how she got that gig that was meant for Blake Lively? But the Girl with the dragon tattoo does not fit here.

I think Ted got canned because of the Jeremy Renner/Freddie Friction slip-up, and any talk about him "deciding" to leave is just spin control (endorsed 100% by Universal) to deflect attention from his "accidental" outing of Renner. The final line of his goodbye confirms it for me... "always do what you're not supposed to do."

ReplyDeleteIn the July 13 intro, Lainey notted Hugh for the 'he's the cliche' blind and said that " have I not been clear enough about Hugh Jackman?" I think that's a strong indication that it's Hugh as the beloved gay actor.

ReplyDeleteJackman goes to great lengths to say his home life is one way when it's really another. Travolta talks about fatherhood yes but doesn't push the wife stories half as much. Does John even have a real boyfriend to deny the existence of like Hugh does?
John Travolta is also leaps ahead of Hugh Jackman in being forthright about his orientation in his real life. Leaps! At least as much as Bomer and Cooper were. Where as Hugh is cut far too much slack for faking it at every turn.
