ReplyDeleteI think Dominick Dunne for #2. His last novel was way past due, took him way long to write. He was a NY society figure too, more likely Pg. 6 would know this.

# 2 is NOT Stephen King... the last thing he is is a slow writer. That guy turns out 500 page novels like they're mindless telephone call doodles. Dan Brown is a hack, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he had ghost writers helping him.

ReplyDeleteListen people , its the NYP and they only write about peeps that are in NY and well known to Manhattan. Dunne just died recently, and believe they'll be talking about him for years to come in certain NY circles.

Number two is definitely Dan Brown. As an English teacher, I can attest to the frustration I felt reading "The DaVinci Code" with its grammatical errors and inconsistent tenses and story devices. I HATED the book. It's written at a 6th grade reading level, which is what most of America is comfortable at, and even written at that level, its horrid writing.
ReplyDeleteAgree with Rachel - #2 is Dan Brown - read it all in a weekend, and the tone changes noticeably towards the end. Still like being hit on the head with a blunt object saying 'stop reading', 'stop reading' every page, but worse.

Thank you, Rachel, for saying that Dan Brown's book was badly written. So far I have had to run into a wall every time I try to explain how the book has poor grammar and I will not even get into the plot itself... And I am normally all for a good thriller-suspense story...
